Catalpa news

Friday, January 29, 2010

We had another wet weekend. I'm sure the farmers appreciated it for their farmlands and also for their cattle. It sure got the streams flowing.

Several were missed from church because of illness, and some because the rain was falling so hard at church time.

Charlie and Terri Pack were both sick. Get well wishes to them, and others that I didn't hear about.

Sunday afternoon was Catalpa's turn to have the service at Merihil. Several from Catalpa attended and also several of the residents. Jeff Pack made the talk and Gary Douglas led the singing. After the service, Bro. Carpenter and Alice, Alice Pack, Jeff and Logan Pack, and Meriel and Juanita went to London Funeral Home to express their sympathy to the family of Dorris Baugher.

We also send our sympathy to the Spivy family.

We are glad that Mildred's new restaurant has opened in Lewisburg. Several from here were seen eating there this weekend. It surely is a good place to get country cooking, and it is a clean, friendly place.

Keep in mind the second Saturday, Feb. 13, and come on down to the Pickin'n'Grinnin' at Petersburg. Hopefully we will be in our new location on the south side of the square. Music starts around 5 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. Bring a dish or two and enjoy the potluck meal at 7 p.m. Y'all come, you hear!

I thank you for the comments about my news. I'm not the writer Mrs. Hastings was, but I try and that is all anyone can do.

See you next week, I hope.
