Jessie Lee Epperson Gillespie, 89, of Chapel Hill, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010.
Mrs. Gillespie was born in Williamson County. She was a homemaker and a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Macy Joe and Jennie Lee Slaughter Epperson; husband, James Samuel "Jim" Gillespie; brother, J.W. Epperson; and sisters, Mildred Hudson and Auline Street.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Anderson of Spring Hill; sons, Jimmy Joe Gillespie of Shelbyville, Johnny Gillespie of Chapel Hill, and Jack Gillespie of Franklin; sisters, Betty Lou Hermann of Asheville, N.C. and Myrtle Bigham of Memphis; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Joe Gillespie; sister-in-law, Katherine Gillespie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Feb. 7, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Hank Shelton officiating, followed by burial in Joyce-Epperson Cemetery near Chapel Hill.
