A Lewisburg woman died Monday as a result of a one-car crash on West Commerce Street, according to city police.

Hazel L. Davis, 52, of 511 Chance Ave., was rushed by ambulance to Marshall Medical Center where she was pronounced dead 37 minutes after the crash was reported at 7:13 a.m.

Police Officer Steve Sanders Jr. investigated and reported that Davis' 2005 Pontiac was going east on West Commerce Street when it crossed both of the street's west bound lanes.

It then "traveled through the car wash parking lot, across Hopkins Avenue and struck a tree," Sanders reported.

"She was not wearing a seatbelt," Police Capt. David Ray said.
