Joe Phillip Boaz, 59, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010.
Mr. Boaz was raised in his childhood home of Parsons, Tenn. He was a graduate of Union University. In 1989 he moved his family to Lewisburg, where he continued as a dedicated member and deacon of the First Assembly of God for over 20 years. He served for 30 years in the Army National Guard Reserves, where he retired as a Lt. Colonel. He also worked for the state of Tennessee as a bank examiner for 23 years.
Anyone who has ever known Joe will tell you that he was a walking, breathing and believing testament to the power of faith in Jesus Christ. Even as his battle with Huntington's Disease ended, he proclaimed the healing power of Christ. And now, that faith has made him whole.
Joe was preceded into light by his father and mother, Tim and Bobby Boaz of Parsons.
He is survived by his sister, Annette King of Mountain Home, Ark.; brother, Tim David Boaz of Parsons; wife, Helen Marie Carter Boaz of Sullivan, Mo.; sons, Joshua Lee Boaz of Crawfordsville, Ind. and Robert Micah Boaz of Chattanooga; and daughter Rachel Joanna (Joni) Boaz-Adams of Sullivan, Mo.
