From the files of Mrs. Sarah Hewitt Dugger, we find from The Pulaski Citizen in 1885 about Lynnville:

"Capt. J. H. Fussell lectured on prohibition in the Christian Church at Robertson Fork on the night of the 18th to a large and attentive audience. After the lecture, Rev. J. M. Jordan of Cornersville organized an alliance with one hundred members. A. J. Griffis was elected president; T. F. McCord and Miss Emma Bryant, vice-president, and Henry Caneer, Secretary and Treasurer. The alliance met again the 25th. Addresses were made by Rev. Messrs. Jordan and Kennedy and sixteen more names were added to the roll.

There was a terrible tragedy just after dark last Saturday evening near W. R. Dickerson's. The family of Warner Martin attempted to cross the creek in a wagon at the ford near Mr. Dickerson's. The creek was considerably swollen from the heavy rain and it being dark they got into swimming water and the team and wagon was washed down stream. The man and his wife and daughter clung to the wagon bed and were rescued after drifting for some distance. The wife's sister a woman of twenty was drowned."
