James Mitchell Williams, 81, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, in the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nev.
Mr. Williams was born in Cornersville. He had a 25-year career as a Senior Master Sgt. in the U. S. Air Force, followed by a 20-year career with the U.S. Postal Service in Las Vegas. He was a "ray of sunshine" to those around him, always maintaining a positive outlook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Lou and Joe Howard Williams; wife of 51 years, Mildred Dingo Williams; daughter, Cynthia Williams McKinley; and sister, Betty Williams Turner.
He is survived by his son, Philip Williams of Henderson, Nev.; daughters, Sonia Williams Powell of Helena, Mont. and Celeste Williams Leitgeb of Temecula, Calif.; sister, Nevonda Williams Lankhorst of Fremont, Mich.; brothers, Dewmont Houston Williams of Lewisburg and Howard Wayne Williams of Old Hickory; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Andrew's Catholic Community Church, Boulder City, on Tuesday, March 23, followed by burial with full military honors in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
