Ernest Lee Goats, 65, formerly of the Culleoka/Mooresville communities, and a resident of Woods Drive in Columbia, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at NHC Hillview.
A native of Maury County, Mr. Goats was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. He was affiliated with activities of Dr. Holland's Catfish Lake in Culleoka, a former employee of Piggly Wiggly in Columbia, The Carpet Center, ICP in Lewisburg, and UCAR. Mr. Goats enjoyed fishing and hunting, and also enjoyed helping other people and being with people.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Allen Goats.
He is survived by his mother, Marshie Virginia Ferguson Goats Cole; sister, Margaret Ann (Larry) Lamar of Lewisburg; brothers, William Allen Goats, Phillip Allen Goats, Larry Marshall (Carolyn) Goats, all of Columbia, and Jerry Wayne Goats of Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Goats will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, with Rev. Peter Serison officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery at Culleoka.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Heritage Funeral Home. The staff of Heritage Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
The pallbearers will be Larry Beard, Tim Sweeney, and other family members and friends.
