Obituary: Lynda Green Sherrell

Lynda Green Sherrell, 61, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at her home in Verona.

A native of Marshall County, she was the daughter of J. Wes Green and the late Julene Green.

Lynda was a 1966 graduate of Cornersville High School and a 1967 graduate of Columbia Business College. She worked in the law profession as a paralegal and as an office manager for Teamsters Union Locals 480 and 327 in Nashville. Following retirement she and her husband raised registered Santa Gertrudis beef cattle. For the last five years she has worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block. She was involved in her community as a board member for Wee-Care Child Care Center, past president of Marshall County Republican Women, and a member of the Marshall County Election Commission. She was also a member and treasurer of New Life Community Church.

Survivors include her father J. Wes Green and stepmother Gwen Green; husband, Mike Sherrell of Lewisburg; two sons, Douglass Donohue of Lexington, Ky. and Jason Woodard of Lewisburg; and one daughter, Lynn Webster of the Taft Community. Also surviving are one stepson, Mickey Sherrell, and one stepdaughter, Nichole Sherrell, both of Bowling Green, Ky.; one sister, Leanne Smith of Spring Hill; one stepbrother, Jerry Stone of Manchester, Tenn.; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sherrell will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery at Ostella. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Lynda requested that donations be made in her name to the Sara Cannon Cancer Center, Centennial Medical Center, 2300 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203, or to the American Parkinson Disease Association Inc., 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.

The family has requested that Mrs. Sherrell's obituary not be posted on the Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home Web site.
