Games resume in full force

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

The high school prep schedule resumes in full force today, highlighted by the Cornersville Bulldogs (16-5), who open up District 11-A Tournament play today in Cornersville versus Hampshire at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-9) have finished up their regular season schedule and await their first round league tournament opponent.

Two of the three Forrest teams are still playing regular season games.

The Forrest Lady Rockets (18-4) travel to Cascade (11-7) today at 4:30 p.m. in hopes of sealing the deal for the number one spot in the district with a victory and then finish up league play tomorrow at home versus Community (12-7) at 5:30 p.m. (Senior Night)

The District 9-A Tournament begins Thursday as the Lady Rockets will host Eagleville at 5:30 p.m.

Shelby Stinnett is nearing an unbreakable record of never allowing an earned run to a district opponent in her five-year career at FHS and can set the mark with a double bagel in the earned run column versus the Lady Champs and Viqueens.

The Rockets play in Chapel Hill today at 3:00 pm in the first game of a rare home and home, same day series with Eagleville.

The Rockets will take the bus for the short ride over to Eagleville after the game at Forrest, leaving the baseball field ready for the resumption of the Big South Conference Middle School Tournament.

The FMS Rockets take on Cascade at 7:00 p.m. in a winner's bracket game that should turn out to be a great one.

The tournament will continue in Chapel Hill thru Friday.

The Forrest Rocket soccer team will play a first round district game later this week.

The MCHS tennis teams will both play for the regular season district title, beginning with the Tigerettes, who play at Page today at 4:00 p.m.

The boys return to the courts at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro tomorrow to take on the defending district champion MTCS Cougars at 4:00 p.m.

The District 11A/AA Tournament begins Thursday at Old Fort and finishes up with the finals on Friday.

The Tigerettes will kick off the District 12-AA Tournament on Thursday at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg. Their first round opponent will more than likely be Spring Hill and Senior Night activities will take place before the ballgame. Tribune photo by Anthony S. Puca
