Martha McCaleb Lingner Boote, of Lewisburg, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at her home on Oakwood Drive, following a long illness.
She was the daughter of the late Flemon B. and Sadie Hollister McCaleb. Martha was a native of Dyersburg, Tenn. and grew up in Oklahoma, but had been a resident of Lewisburg since 1947 when she and her husband, Louis Lingner, moved to Lewisburg to put WJJM Radio on the air. Martha and Louis owned and operated the Lewisburg Paint Store and WJJM Radio from 1947. She sold the Paint Store in 1982. She continued to oversee the operations of WJJM until she sold it to her granddaughter in 2003.
Martha was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Marshall County Women's Club and a current member of Church Street Church of Christ. She loved her time with her family, traveling, shopping and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis D. Lingner in 1981 and Joseph Owen Boote in 2001.
She is survived by one daughter, Pam Smith Evanko and husband, Norman; two grandchildren, Missie Warner Haislip and husband, Jeff, and Dr. Howard S. Warner III and wife, Alisa; four great-grandchildren, Mallory and Kathryn Haislip, and Stuart and Trey Warner; and a cousin, Gladys Pitt of Texas.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 9, from the chapel of London Funeral Home, followed by burial in Lone Oak Cemetery.
