John Richard "Dusty" Allen, 69, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, in Lewisburg.
He professed his love for the Lord and was baptized in the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Nathaniel and Mamie Ruth Allen; wife, Carolyn Jean Allen; two brothers, Nathaniel Allen Jr. and Charles William Allen; and one sister, Rosie Lee Warr.
Mr. Allen retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved fishing, hunting, and gardening.
He leaves to cherish his memories his five children, Carlisa McLean; Reginal Gardner, Richard "Petey" Allen, John Allen, and Amy Foxx; four sisters, Sadie Mae Duke, Mamie Harris, Olene Edmondson, and Ella Faye Allen; one brother, James Thomas Allen; 13 grandchildren, Adrea, Tiffany, Scott, Tamara, P.J., Tiera, Keyerra, Justin, Jared, Ladacia, Keondra, Alexia, and Alyeah; and one great-grandchild, Chaundrelle; four aunts, Louise Holt, Sadie Sue Holt, Frances King, and Lorriane Peacock; two uncles, Joe Bailey and Mcllean "Pat" Perkins; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dusty lay in state on Tuesday, June 1, at the Lewisburg Family Life Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at Greater First Baptist Church in Lewisburg.
His care was entrusted to J. B. Mayberry and Sons Funeral Home.
