Obituary: Pearl McCord

Pearl McCord, 86, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday May 29, 2010, at her residence, following a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Goldie Allison McCord. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy McCord.

She was a retired employee of Henry Horton State Park.

She is survived by one daughter, Melody McCord, and one grandson, Patrick McCord, both of Chapel Hill; three sisters, Peggy Mayes of Chapel Hill, and Mary Graham and Geneva Blanding, both of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Thomas McCord of Galatin and Joe McCord of Detroit; two sisters-in-law, Katherine and Elizabeth McCord, both of Lewisburg; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and neighborhood friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.

The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with interment in Egypt Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Rev . Michael James is the Pastor and Rev. Kenneth Phillips is the officiant.
