Obituary: Edna Ghee Blanton
Edna Ghee Blanton, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, after a brief battle with leukemia.
Born in Holts Corner, to the late Will and Mattie Ghee, she was the widow of Joe Edd Blanton and daughter-in-law of the late Carroll and Myrtle Blanton. Mrs. Blanton was a resident of Wellington Place, Brentwood, and formerly lived in Rover for 70 years. She was a member of Promise United Methodist Church and attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rover.
She is survived by her daughter, Norma June Blanton Miller of Nashville; sister, Pauline Beasley of Chapel Hill; brother, Aubrey (Marjorie) Ghee of College Grove; sister-in-law, Ruby Mai Farrar; and brother-in-law, Franklin Blanton. She is also survived by Bitty Bit (Rhett Rover) and Mama Kitty. She was loved by many family and friends.
Truly the "virtuous" woman described in Proverbs: "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches and loving favor rather than silver and gold," always preferring others above herself. A hard working farmer's wife and a farmer herself, she kept her cattle until she was 86 years of age. She was known for wonderful meals that she prepared for many, her beautiful smile, and for putting smiles on others' faces.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 11, from noon until 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.
T. C. Blanton, Richard Blanton, Wesley Blanton, Jason Blanton, Melvin Ralston and David Ryan Ensey will serve as active pallbearers. The staff and residents of Wellington Place Assisted Living will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Many thanks to family and friends in the Rover Community that kept things going while Edna was at Wellington Place and special thanks to Willene Fulton for everything she has done for Edna, Norma June and Mama Kitty.
