Flood Assistance Jobs Available

The NEG (National Emergency Grant) Disaster Grant has approved funds for the following South Central TN Workforce Alliance counties: Marshall, Maury, Giles, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Perry and Wayne. These funds will be used to create temporary jobs (Disaster Relief Employment) to assist in the clean up and restoration efforts as a result of the flooding in May.

Starting Monday, June 14, the TN Career Center in Lewisburg will be accepting applications for temporary jobs working on projects that will provide food, clothing, shelter and other humanitarian assistance, as well as, clean up and recovery for flood disaster victims.

There will be a variety of positions available from office workers to work crew laborers and work crew supervisors.

Jobseekers must be one of the following to be eligible for employment under this grant:

* Individuals who have been unemployed for at least the last six months

* Unemployed because of no fault of your own

* Individuals who have temporarily or permanently lost their job as a result of the flood disaster.

The South Central TN Workforce Alliance will be in charge of administering the grant funds. Eligible jobseekers should apply in person at the TN Career Center-Lewisburg, 980 South Ellington Parkway, Lewisburg. For more information call: 359-9726.
