Obituary: Agnes Wortham Cheek

Agnes Wortham Cheek, 90, of Lewisburg, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, following an extended illness.

A native of Marshall County, Mrs. Cheek was a daughter of the late James Edward and Maggie Katherine Ball Wortham. She was retired from Faber-Castell with 40 years of service, and was a member of Church Street Church of Christ in Lewisburg.

The widow of Otis Cheek who died in 1978, she was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Cheek, two sisters, one brother, and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include her grandson, Timmy Cheek of Murfreesboro; a sister, Ruth King of Lewisburg; two brothers, Loyd Wortham and Allen Wortham, both of Lewisburg; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted on Thursday, July 8, at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Lawrence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
