Ryan Longchamps, 17, of Lewisburg participated in the Frontiers Program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from July 11 to 23. He completed the mechanical engineering program, as well as the music workshop.
Frontiers is a two-week summer residential program for over 180 soon-to-be juniors and seniors interested in science, mathematics and engineering. Students gained exposure to a problem in their academic program, using current laboratory techniques, and choosing from the following areas: aerospace engineering, biology, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, interactive media and game development, mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics and robotics. This program was supplemented with a communications workshop, as well as evening activities and field trips.
The Frontiers Program is a well-balanced summer enrichment experience, providing students with a challenge and exposure to a field of interest. For more information about the Frontiers Program, visit the Web site www.wpi.edu/+frontiers.
