Obituary: William Thomas Moore

William Thomas "Tom" Moore, 72, of Lewisburg, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010.

A native of Cornersville, Mr. Moore was the son of the late Joe and Charlene Copeland Moore. Tom was retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant, having served in Japan, Okinawa, and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was also a retired Firefighter with the City of Lewisburg and was a driver for Amerigas Propane and the Marshall County Senior Citizens. He was a deacon at Farmington Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer for a number of years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joelene Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Hazlett Moore of Lewisburg; a daughter, Vikki (Lee) Smith of Lewisburg; two sons, Mike (Lenise) Moore of Mt. Juliet and Tony Moore of Spring Hill; sister, Linda Searcy of Nashville; and three grandchildren, Bailey Smith, Sarah Moore and Zack Smith.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Sept. 30, at Farmington Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Gray and Rev. Wayne Cable officiating. Burial with military honors followed at Lone Oak Cemetery.
