Rev. William Pate Garrett, 86, of Madison, Ala., formerly of Marshall County, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, in Madison.
He was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late Porter Wilhoite and Martha Jane Pate Garrett. Rev. Garrett was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister who retired after 50 years of ministry in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Tucker, Ruth Garrett, Elizabeth Garrett and Geraldine Garrett.
Rev. Garrett is survived by his wife of 49 years, Colleen Baldwin Garrett of Madison; daughter, Martha Garrett (Jerry) Fisher of Madison; sister, Lola Blain of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Billy Fisher and Cindy Fisher, both of Madison; two nieces and two nephews.
Family members will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 1 until 2 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Church with Rev. Richard Hughes and the Rev. Dr. Pam Phillips-Burk officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery.
