Jesse C. Tate Jr., 77, of Murfreesboro, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Cornersville in 1933 and was a son of the late Jesse C. and Eunice Haney Tate. Mr. Tate was a member of the Eagleville United Methodist Church, a retired commericial building superintendent, a past president of the Eagleville Lions Club, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Shrine, as well as serving on Eagleville's City Council for eight years. He also served in the U.S. Air Force working as a weight and balance technician on airplanes. Jesse lived in Eagleville for 47 years but recently moved to Murfreesboro for health reasons. He will be missed by many friends in both communities.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nellie Jean Morris Tate of Murfreesboro; a son, Jimmy (Linda) Skinner of Eagleville; a granddaughter, Michelle (Darrell) Huffman of Eagleville; two great-grandchildren, Tate and Mahaley Huffman; a brother, George L. (Katherine) Tate of Hixon; and a sister, Christine Tate Rowden of Mt. Juliet.
A Masonic Service was held at Lawrence Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 25, after the visitation.
Funeral services were contucted Tuesday, Oct. 26, from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Smith and Brother David Martin officiating. Interment followed at Hayes Cemetery in Rockvale.
