Charles Floyd Cantrell Jr., 69, died Nov. 1, 2010, at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler in Orange City, Fla.
A native of Cornersville, he was the son of the late Floyd Cantrell and Doris Fox Cantrell. He was a graduate of Cornersville High School and the University of Tennessee. Mr. Cantrell went to Florida in 1965, and bought his first business in DeLand in 1969. He was a pharmacist, and was involved in several business ventures over the years, including the ownership of pharmacies, nursing homes, ferneries, cattle, and, most recently, thoroughbred horses. He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in DeLand.
Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara of DeLand, Fla.; one son, Dr. Kent Cantrell and his wife, Beckie, of Ocala; one daughter, Jennifer Cantrell of Orlando; two brothers, Mickey Cantrell of Cornersville and Stanley Cantrell of Petersburg; one sister, Jenny Middleton of Nashville; and one granddaughter, Reece Cantrell.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with Father Don Lyon officiating.
