J. Wilburn Moorehead, 77, of Chapel Hill, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010.
He was born in Lincoln County on November 7, 1932, to the late Walter Dow and Lucille Tielkin Moorehead.
Mr. Moorehead was a much-adored husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He owned and operated Moorehead's Foodland for 33 years and served in the Chapel Hill Lions Club for 48 years. He was a former board member at First State Bank and was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 48 years.
A brother, Kenneth Crabtree, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Grace M. Moorehead; son, Mike (Nancy) Moorehead; daughter, Bandi Brown; grandchildren, Ben Brown, Matt Moorehead, Blaire Brown and Will Moorehead; Charles (Bubba) Brown, father of Ben and Blaire; sister, Virginia Leonard; brother, Jeffie (Jane) Moorehead; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Ledbetter and W. T. Walker officiating. Interment followed in Lone Oak Cemetery in Lewisburg.
The pallbearers were grandsons, Ben Brown, Matt Moorehead and Will Moorehead; nephews, Pat Leonard, Tim Leonard, and Jeff Moorehead; and Terry Tucker, Ricky Fagan and W. T. Walker.
The honorary pallbearers were all former employees of Moorehead's Foodland; and Rex, Glenda, Chris and Carol Messick.
