We regret to inform you that Gertrude Hardin-Stafford, 101, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at NHC Healthcare Center in Lewisburg.
She was the daughter of the late Bill and Molly Gill and was a member of Second Avenue Church of Christ in Lewisburg.
She was a very loving mother, cherished friend, and homemaker. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, General Hardin; earlier husband, Henry Stafford; sister, Clara Gill; and son-in-law, Charles Robertson.
She is survived by one sister, Minnie Luster of Franklin; her son, James Hardin, and daughters Ethel Robertson, Catherine Yeargins, and Martha Cooper, all of Lewisburg, Sara McCroskey and Mattie Peacock of Shelbyville, and Elizabeth Dalton of Nashville; four stepchildren, Helen Pigg, Janie Haislip, and Fay Fisher of Lewisburg and Walter Stafford of Lebanon; two nieces, Virginia Hill of Detroit, Mich. and Nora Coure of Nashville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She will lie-in-state Wednesday, Nov.10, from 2 until 6 p.m. at the Lewisburg Family Life Center. Visitation with the family will be at Second Avenue Church of Christ in Lewisburg, on Thursday, Nov. 11, from noon until 1 p.m.; the funeral service will follow at one o'clock.
