Mary Carolyn Mayes Eaves, 90, passed away on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010.
She was born in Farmington, and lived the majority of her life in Lewisburg, retiring to Nashville in 1995. In Lewisburg she worked as a teacher's aide and later worked in the Marshall County library. Carolyn will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who placed God and family above all else. Her devotion to her family was selfless and absolute.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Howard Eaves Sr.; her parents, Joseph C. Mayes and Ruth Clayton Mayes; and brother, William C. Mayes.
She is survived by her two children, Raymond H. Eaves, Jr. (Laine) and Janice Eaves Sowell (Tom); six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Batey (Ben); her brother, Joe Mayes (Ruth); and sister-in-law, Sue Eaves, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eaves will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, beginning at noon, until the funeral hour.
Active pallbearers will be her six grandsons: Michael Eaves, Bryan Eaves, Chris Eaves, Steven Sowell, David Sowell and Andre' Thebert.
