Peggy Harris Barnes, 70, of Murfreesboro, passed away on Dec. 2, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was born in Marshall County but resided in Murfreesboro for the past 50 years. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, a former school teacher at Crichlow School and retired from Tennessee State Employment Security.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Andrews Harris and Evelyn Hill Harris; and son, James Coleman Barnes. She is survived by her husband, Earnest Coleman Barnes of Murfreesboro; daughter, Beth Ann Barnes (Zachary) Mitchell of Murfreesboro and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Barnes; sisters, Patty Harris (Paul) Johnston and Nancy (Jerry) Reddick; and four grandchildren, Benji Barnes, Caleb, Christopher and Connor Mitchell.
Chapel service for She will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Jim Clardy, George Jones and Craig Goff officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
