James M. Russell, 82, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday morning, Dec. 11, 2010.
Mr. Russell was born in Giles County, and was a son of the late William and Tennie Pearl Fralix Russell. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. In 2000, Mr. Russell retired from Uni-Web of Columbia where he was a plant foreman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Faye Owens, who died in 1996.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Joyce Russell of Chapel Hill; three daughters, Sheila (Randy) Sweeney, Gail (Butch) Robertson and Susan (Greg) England, all of Chapel Hill; son, Chris Russell of Chapel Hill; brother, Mahlon Russell of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Ed Sweeney, Gwen Gentry, Crystal Darnell, Jennifer Hodge, Amanda Robinson, Jacob Robertson, and Rachel Robertson; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 13, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Swango officiating. Burial followed in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.
