Registration for the Youth Basketball League for boys and girls 7-12 years old, sponsored by the Lewisburg Parks and Recreation Department, is now open. Deadline is Dec. 17; League starts Jan. 8. For more information, call Jane Tilford at 359-2482.

In His Image Pregnancy Resource Center is in urgent need of wipes and diapers sizes newborn, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The center is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. Feel free to call Shirley Lowe at 359-2304 for special arrangements.

Registration for the 2011 spring semester is underway at Columbia State Community College. Thursday, Jan. 6, is the last day to register without incurring a late charge. Classes begin Thursday, Jan. 13. Registration and advising services are available from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Marshall County Senior Citizens Center will be closed on Dec. 24, 27, and 31, and Jan. 1, for the holidays. There will be no covered-dish luncheon or FCE Club meeting in December.

Friday, Dec. 17, is an abbreviated day for students in the Marshall County School System. There will be no bus transportation on this day.

Lewisburg Electric System's Board of Public Utilities will hold a special called Board Meeting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the LES Office, 599 West Ellington Pkwy.

The first ride of the year will be the Polar Bear Run, starting with registration at the Senior Citizens Building in Maury County Park, Columbia, at 9:30 a.m. The cost of the scorecard includes lunch. Mountain Climbers, a a newly formed group for young widows, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, in the fellowship hall at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 990 Cornersville Rd., Lewisburg. The group will meet monthly to support and help each other learn how to live again. Whether you have recently lost a spouse or it has been a few years, please come and climb this mountain with us.
