Hazel Gevedon, 85, of the Palmetto Community of Marshall County, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, following an extended illness.
A native of Chapel Hill, Mrs. Gevedon was a daughter of the late Buford and Opal Spink Mealer. She was a retired machine operator with Genesco Inc. in Lewisburg and was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Kay Gevedon; a son, Jack Douglas Gevedon; three sisters, Edith Champion, Jessie May Wilson and Ludell Adams Davis; and three brothers, Logan Mealer, Ray Mealer and Glade Mealer.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Gevedon of the Palmetto Community; three sons, Gary (Faye) Gevedon of Cornersville, Donald (Kay) Gevedon of the Verona Community, and Guy (Christine) Gevedon of Petersburg; four sisters, Florene McCallister of Nashville, Elsie Boswell of Tullahoma, Phoebe Morton of Unionville, and Nellie Cawthon of Nashville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 28, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Leland Carden officiating. Burial followed at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.
