Obituary: James Samuel Glasscock

James Samuel "Sonny" Glasscock, 78, of the Halls Mill Community of Bedford County, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.

Mr. Glasscock was born in Bedford County and was a son of the late William Porter and Zelma Stephenson Glasscock. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a self-employed plumber and electrician. Mr. Glasscock was a member of Crowells Chapel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Carlton Glasscock of Halls Mill; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in Crowells Chapel Cemetery.
