Obituary: Wilma Gower

Wilma Gower, 90, of Athens, Ala., died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, in Huntsville Hospital.

Mrs. Gower was a native of Delina, and daughter of the late Will and Lillie Haislip Layne. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Smith Gower; son, Carey "Bay" Gower; and daughter, Janice Richardson.

She is survived by one son, Tommy Gower; daughter-in-law, Gayle Gower; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 6, from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home with burial to follow in Beechwood Cemetery.
