Rev. Aubrey Lee Knois Sr., 80, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, in Lewisburg. Rev. Knois was born in Bedford County and was a son of the late Wilkie D. and Alta Mai Wilson Knois. He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, having retired after 21 years, serving in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and being stationed in Germany. After service, he became an electrical design engineer and later entered the ministry. Rev. Knois was the senior minister at Berean Baptist Church in Lewisburg, and during his 32 years in the ministry, pastored in Marshall and Lincoln counties.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Knois was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Wilkie Knois, who died in 1958, and by a sister and four brothers.
Rev. Knois is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Knois of Lewisburg; three sons, Aubrey Lee (Lisa) Knois Jr. of Murfreesboro, and Michael (Cindy) Knois and Steve (Kim) Knois, all of Lewisburg; a daughter, Debbie (Jason) Petty of Lewisburg; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 8, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Lucas and Rev. Willis Pope officiating. Burial followed in Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
