Obituary: Harold L. Fuller
Harold L. "Buster" Fuller, 90, of Chapel Hill, died Friday morning, Jan. 14, 2011, in Chapel Hill.
Mr. Fuller was a son of the late Harold and Ocia Lee Barnes Fuller. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and in 1985 retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Parks and Recreation as a construction supervisor. He was a long-time and very active member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and oversaw many renovations and expansion projects of the church. Buster was a 60-year member of the Chapel Hill Lions Club with over 45 years of perfect attendance. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lions Club International, the highest award given to a Lions Club member.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Jeanette Jones Fuller, who died in June 2010; two sisters, Nancy Fuller and Mary Jo Manier; and a brother, Tom Fuller.
He is survived by two sisters, Christine Cochran of Phil Campbell, Ala. and Ruth Bullock of the Holts Corner Community; three brothers, Gordon Fuller of Farmington, Dan Fuller of Triune, and Allen Fuller of Murfreesboro; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 16, from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. David Bradley and Rev. Michael Ledbetter officiating. Burial followed in Riggs Cemetery in the Holts Corner Community.
Nephews served as active pallbearers.
The Foundation Sunday School Class of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and members of the Chapel Hill Lions Club served as honorary pallbearers.
