A Lewisburg man suffered a gunshot wound to his neck Monday night when the bullet was fired through his apartment window, city police said.

The man, of the Cedar Hills apartment complex near Marshall County High School, was treated by the Marshall County Emergency Medical Service at the scene, Police Detective Sgt. David Henley said Tuesday.

Police believe somebody was shooting at the victim.

The bullet "grazed his neck" at 9:20 p.m. Monday, Henley said. "One single round was shot from the outside through the window" of the first floor apartment.

"We're investigating leads," the sergeant said, asking the general public for help. "If you have any information on this, please call us or Crimestoppers."

The criminal investigation division is at 359-3800. CrimeStoppers number is 359-4867.

"We're still trying to develop a motive on that right now," Henley said at noon Tuesday.
