Obituary: Marcus E. Tate
Marcus E. "Gene" Tate, 94, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, in Maury Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Tate was a Marshall County native and son of the late Marcus Eugene Sr. and Era Knox Fowler Tate. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Heil-Quaker Corporation and was a member of the Hickory Heights Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Volley "Bill" Tate.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille "Lucy" Tate of Lewisburg; daughter, Patsy (Tom) Santel of Columbia; two sons, Marcus "Mark" Eugene (Kay) Tate III of Dalton, Ga. and Charles Wayne (Gail) Tate of Columbia; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 22, from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors.
