Joan Petty Hicks, 62, of Tullahoma, passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at her residence.
Mrs. Hicks was born in Lewisburg to Roy A. and Maxine Bentle Petty, and was a graduate of Marshall County High School. She attended Belmont University before graduating from Tennessee Tech in 1971. Mrs. Hicks taught school in Knox County, Nashville, and Cookeville before settling in Tullahoma where she taught at West Middle School from 1981 to 1994. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband, Jim Hicks of Tullahoma; son, Jamie Hicks and his wife Brandy of Tullahoma; two daughters, Jennifer Cope and her husband David of Chattanooga and Jana Hobbs and her husband Brad of Jacksonville, N.C.; sister, Janet Wiles and her husband Eddie of Lewisburg; and five grandchildren, Madison and Molly Cope, Gracie and Libbie Hicks, and Emma Hobbs.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Kilgore Funeral Home, 215 Mitchell Blvd, Tullahoma.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Dixon and Rev. Wayne Wester officiating.
Burial will be at Lone Oak Cemetery, Lewisburg, where a graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3.
