Robert Samuel Pickle Sr., 52, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the Vanderbilt University Medical Burn Center in Nashville.
Born in Bedford County, he was the son of Mary Jane Pickle and the late Charles "Bud" Pickle, and was preceded in death by his sister, Freda Pickle. He was a lifelong farmer who loved row cropping and cutting and baling hay. Some years back, he, along with his parents, had one of the state's best herds of Brown Swiss milk cattle. He was a member of the Middle Tennessee Tractor Pullers Association.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Susan King Pickle of Pleasant Grove; children, Sam Pickle and Kasey Pickle of Pleasant Grove; sister, Gemella (Arnold) Colson of Corinth, Ky.; brother, Billy Pickle of Pleasant Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 20, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Jim Sorrells officiating. Burial followed in the Round Hill Cemetery in Belfast.
