Ruth Bowers Stinnett, 84, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Stinnett was a native of Marshall and Bedford counties, the daughter of "Bud" and Annie Bowers of Lewisburg. She was one of the longest living heart transplant recipients: she had a heart transplant in 1988, 23 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Johnny Stinnett.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Stinnett; daughter, Nancy Moore; and son, Jimmy Stimson, all of Fort Wayne. Two sisters, Charlene (Charles) Clanton and Dot (Lee) Clift, both of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at the D. O. McCombs Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, on Feb. 18.
