Spivey to speak at Tea Party meeting

Friday, March 4, 2011

Because of his genuine interest and tireless work toward a prosperous and thriving Marshall County, Billy Spivey has been asked to speak at the March 5 open meeting of the Marshall County Tea Party.

The meeting will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the second floor meeting room of First Commerce Bank. Following Spivey's address, the floor will be opened for an "open mike" session whereby citizens may speak their mind.

All interested persons are invited to attend.

At the top of the list of goals of Tea Parties across America is affecting change in government from the bottom up.

To the Tea Parties, change means getting back to the vision and principles of our Founding Fathers and adherence to the Constitution. Included in the Founders' twenty-eight basic principles are free-market economics, strong local self-government, and avoiding the burden of debt.

Local issues relative to these particular principles, including elections and how the Marshall County Tea Party might affect them, will be discussed at Saturday's meeting.
