Marshall County veterinarians will offer rabies vaccinations at the reduced rate of $8 for the month of April. Tennessee law requires all cats and dogs three months of age and older to be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian. There have already been three cases of rabies confirmed in Marshall County this year.

The Marshall County Education Association is offering a $1,000 scholarship for college juniors and seniors who are majoring in education and plan to teach. Applicant must be a graduate of one of Marshall County's high schools. Applications are available at the high school guidance offices and the Marshall County Memorial Library. Deadline: May 1.

LIHEAP funds are still available for low-income families who need help with energy costs. Apply between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the South Central Human Resource Agency, 1572 Old Columbia Hwy, Lewisburg; phone 359-6393. These funds are not available to anyone who has received an energy or crisis payment since July 2010.

Gently used children's clothing, toys and accessories will be available from the Angel's Closet at Heaven Sent Children Inc., 307 N. Walnut St, Murfreesboro, twice a month. Eagleville School Band Booster Association will hold a Chitlin and BBQ Dinner at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in the school cafeteria. Chitlin and BBQ plates will include slaw, white beans, bread, and coffee/tea. A variety of homemade desserts will be available. All proceeds benefit the school band program.
