Dan Thomas "Shotgun" Gentry, 91, of Lewisburg, formerly of Franklin, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Mr. Gentry was a graduate of Battle Ground Academy and served the Bell South System for 42 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and well-known trapper. He loved to garden and grow vegetables.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Gentry; sons, Dan (Janice) Gentry Jr. and Zeb (Donna) Gentry; daughters, Jane (Mike) Miller, Betsy (Henry) Hurt, and Susan (Clif) Bonds; stepdaughter, Connie Green; brothers, Jimmy Gentry and Bobby (Peggy) Gentry; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 11, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, with Allen Gentry officiating, followed by interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The active pallbearers were Ed Whitley, Park Brown, Chug Morton, Brother Campbell, Bert Brown and Terry Beech.
