Charlie T. Perryman, 89, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, in Chapel Hill.
Mr. Perryman was born in Bedford County and was a son of the late William Alexander and Lou Cindia Jones Perryman. He was the last member of Forrest High School Class of 1939. Mr. Perryman served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. Mr. Perryman was awarded Life Member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars organization. He was a farmer and was also retired from Avco Corp. of Nashville after 33 years of service.
Mr. Perryman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mazie Perryman of Chapel Hill; daughter, Beckie (Paul) Rodgers of Chapel Hill; sons, Scotty (Betty) Perryman of Chapel Hill, Barry (Barbara) Perryman of Lincolnton, N.C., and Randy (Cindy) Perryman of Chapel Hill; seven grandchildren, including Cindy Lou Perryman who was raised by Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Mazie; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 25, at Holts Corner Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Chatman officiating. Burial followed in Reed-Walker Cemetery.
Grandsons served as active pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers were nephews, and deacons of Holts Corner Baptist Church.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chapel Hill Elementary School Library Fund, Forrest High School Athletic Department, or Holts Corner Baptist Church.
Lawrence Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
