Obituary: Flossie Colvett McKissick

Flossie Colvett McKissick, 80, resident of Hwy 166 North in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Life Care Center.

Born in Campbellsville on February 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late David Dee and Allie Dugger Colvett, and married James Harlon McKissick on April 12, 1952. She was a retired pocket setter for Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing, and loved cooking, canning, making doll clothes, quilting and working in her garden. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a member of the Beech Hill Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband (January 2000); three brothers, Lewis Colvett, Bruce Colvett and Cordia Colvett; and three sisters, Rebecca Clifton, Betty Workman and Willie Maude Tomerlin.

She is survived by a daughter, Sherry McKissick of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Barry (Shirley) McKissick of Lewisburg; a grandson, Scotty (Khristina) James of Mt. Pleasant; great-grandchildren, Kayla Woody, Chelsey Woody, Clay Woody, and Brittany James all of Mt. Pleasant; and a sister, Sally Bradley of Columbia.

Funeral services for Mrs. McKissick were conducted Monday, April 25, in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Hueston Marshall and Ed Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Arlington Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Terry Cook, Kenneth Colvett, Greg Bradley, Joe Colvett, John Colvett, David Workman, Doug Workman and Joe Shannon.

The honorary pallbearers were the men of Beech Hill Church of Christ, the staff of Life Care Center, and Dr. Gibran Naddy.
