Obituary: William T. Holly

William T. "Bill" Holly, 81, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at NHC-Place in Franklin.

A native of Marshall County, Mr. Holly was the son of the late James M. Holly Sr. and Tomye Ownby Holly. He served his country in the United States Air Force with the rank of Staff Sergeant earning the U. N. Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Heil-Quaker Corp. with 36 years of service and from Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with 26 years of service. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge and a past Commander of the VFW. He was a member of the Lewisburg Planning Commission for 12 years and a member of Lewisburg First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Holly Jr., and a sister, Marjory Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, Milbrey Joyce Holly of Franklin; two sons, Dr. Rhea (Kim) Holly of Franklin and Paul Holly of Atlanta, Ga.; and one sister, Linda Wright of Lewisburg.

Funeral services for Mr. Holly will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Mark Irvin, Leland Carden and Thomas B. Sumners officiating.

Burial will take place at Lone Oak Cemetery.
