Friday, May 20, 2011

A dozen applications for the position of Lewisburg treasurer were culled Monday by city councilmen to eight candidates for the job.

They were ranked as follows: Donna Park of Cornersville, Norma Haig of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Jeffery England of Lewisburg who applied to be city manager, Tammy Chunn Bradley of Lewisburg, Dawn Patton of Soddy Daisy. and Natasha Stinnett of Lewisburg.

Questions for the candidates are being drafted by the councilmen who are to file them today at City Hall.

Interviews haven't been scheduled for the applicants. Dates are to be selected at 4 p.m. Wednesday when a special called meeting of the council is to be conducted in City Hall.

Also set for that meeting are:

* Consideration of the city's revenue and spending plan for 2011-12; and,

* Granting the Water and Wastewater Department's request to hire two construction contractors who will expand the city's sewage treatment plant and build a 10-million-gallon holding tank - all on property between Rock Creek Park and the current location of the water and sewer plants.

The contracts total almost $13.14 million of which $2 million is federal stimulus funds. The balance is being borrowed through the state revolving loan fund.
