Obituary: Thomas Fredrick King Jr.

Thomas Fredrick "Rickey" King Jr., 61, of Unionville, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011.

A native of Bedford County, Mr. King was a son of the late Thomas Fredrick King and Betty Ralston King Beech who survives.

Rickey was a retired machinist with Alcan Packaging of Shelbyville. He was a graduate of Eagleville High School, attended Middle Tennessee State University, was a former Chief of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department, a former assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 699 BSA, a former president of the Unionville Lion's Club, a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, and was active with the Highland Rim Emmaus Group.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Douglas King.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Brantley King of Unionville; two sons, Thomas F. "Trey" King III and wife Lisa of Unionville, and David King and wife Renee of Unionville; mother and stepfather, Betty Ralston King Beech and Billy Beech of Lewisburg; brother, Eddie King and wife Peggy of Chapel Hill; and four grandchildren, Justin Owens, Keri Owens, Deacon King and Savannah King.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 451 Manier Road, Chapel Hill. Burial will follow at Cothran Cemetery in Bedford County.
