Obituary: Waldo Emerson Rutherford

Waldo Emerson Rutherford, 83, of Lewisburg, died Monday, June 6, 2011, in Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.

Mr. Rutherford was a native of Lawrence County, and son of the late Oscar Samuel and Hattie Agnes Cook Rutherford. He served as the budget director for Marshall County for 17 years. He attended Westvue Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Hobby Rutherford; daughter, Deborah Rutherford; son, Richard Rutherford; one sister; and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Capley Rutherford of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Kipphut of London, England, and Jason (Maria) Crick of Colorado; one great-grandchild; stepdaughter, Julie Bills of Lewisburg; three stepgrandchildren; and two nieces, Norma Cross Dodson of Lewisburg and Joyce Nicholson of Columbia.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 9, from the chapel of London Funeral Home. Burial followed in Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg.
