The Bedford County Historical Society and the Peter Turney United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 1927 of Winchester will dedicate a historical marker at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Old Crowell's Chapel Cemetery in the Halls Mill Community of Bedford County. The marker commemorates Halls Mill and Crowell's Chapel/Cemetery as one of the oldest pioneer settlements in Bedford County. The dedication ceremony will take place in conjunction with the 17th annual Crowell Family Reunion which will be held from June 17 to 19 at Henry Horton State Park. Period music will be performed during the marker dedication by singer Ross Moore of Ross Moore Entertainment. The public is invited. There will be a Poker Run to benefit the Cochran family, who lost everything in a house fire, on Saturday, June 25, starting with registration at 11:30 a.m. at Leonard's Outer Edge, 121 Legion Ave, Lewisburg. The route includes stops in Columbia and Minor Hill. The ride ends back at Leonard's Outer Edge for a party, with raffle tickets, a silent auction, and live music by the Dave Jennette Band.
