Joseph Daniel "Joe" Blalock, 57, owner/operator of Blalock Wrecker Service & Auto Repair and a resident of Lewisburg, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2011, after a strong hard battle with cancer.
Mr. Blalock was born in Culleoka on Aug. 10, 1953 to the late Mary Lucille Himes Blalock Jett and the late Enoch Ethridge Blalock. He attended Marshall County schools and served our country in the United States Armed Forces for many years before owning and operating his own automotive businesses here in Lewisburg.
He was married to the late Maria Blalock, of Kitzingen, Germany, and, for 17 years, to Shelia Fay Blalock who resides in Bellevue/Nashville and Lewisburg; they owned and operated Blalock Auto Sales & Repair for numerous years. Mr. Blalock also served as supervisor of the Lead Department at the former Faber-Castell in Lewisburg for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Brette Katherine Blalock of (MTSU) Murfreesboro and Jane Christine Blalock of Lewisburg, and several sisters, Linda L. Joyce of Fisherman's Resort, Ala. and Lewisburg, Shirley Hedrick of Lewisburg, Ellen Boshers of Petersburg, and Helen Peters and Erma Blalock of Bedford County.
Mr. Blalock is also survived by a brother, Douglas "Doug" Clay Blalock of Lewisburg, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Mary Magdeline Blalock Stewart, Sylvia Gayle Blalock Edwards, and Charles Ethridge Blalock, all formerly of Lewisburg.
The funeral service was conducted by Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home of Lewisburg with cremation and a memorial graveside service, with the spreading of Mr. Blalock's ashes on Sunday, June 19, at Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka, with Chaplin Eddie Rogers of the Hospice Compassus officiating.
