Lewisburg Police are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting that's resulted in the death of one man and hospitalization of another, Police Detective Sgt. David Henley said Sunday night.
Joey Perryman, 48, of Lewisburg was shot at about 1 p.m. at the Martin Street Apartments and subsequently died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where the second shooting victim, a 15-year-old boy, was hospitalized, Henley said.
Meanwhile, police have a suspect in custody.
"Phillip Burgess of Lewisburg has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of attempted criminal homicide," Henley said. "Burgess is being held without bond (in the Marshall County Jail). Additional warrants are anticipated and further information will be released as warranted."
The scene of the shooting at 210 Martin St., is about one-half block south of East Commerce Street. The shooting appeared to be in one of the units at the end of the building away from Martin Street.
