Spring Hill plant in GM-UAW talks
DETROIT -- General Motors and the United Auto Workers were negotiating a new labor contract Thursday when the future of GM's Spring Hill plant was an issue.
Contract talks continued beyond a Wednesday night deadline as both sides agreed to extend terms of the current contract, according to the Detroit News. Nearly 2,000 furloughed Spring Hill plant workers would be brought back if the new contract includes what UAW negotiators are requesting.
Spring Hill Mayor Michael Dinwiddie was expected to meet with GM's Chief Manufacturing Officer on Thursday, according to WSMV TV.
