The Forrest Rocket Band of Blue competed at the Hendersonville Golden Invitational on Saturday September 17, and for the second consecutive year, director Billy Bateman's marching band took home the coveted "Turning Eagle" trophy after a rousing performance.

The Hendersonville event hosted 18 bands ranging from 31 members to 129 members from all over Middle Tennessee and Northern Alabama on Saturday.

The competition was divided into 4 different classes and into Large and Small Divisions and the Band of Blue wound up receiving the Superior Rating Award based on their music scores.

Forrest seniors Caleb Boone, Jed Hall, Kim Meacham and Taylor Blanchett are all smiles as they hoist the Turning Eagle Award for their first place finish Saturday at the Hendersonville Golden Invitational Marching Competition.

After being awarded the first place trophy for top spot in their class, the jubilant band members hoisted "Turning Eagle" award for 1st place in their Division.

Two weeks ago, The Band of Blue traveled to Franklin, KY for their first marching band competition of the season as part of the 43rd Annual Franklin-Simpson Invitational Marching Event.

The Kentucky competition was host to 11 bands from Kentucky and Tennessee.

Forrest took the field at 5:15 p.m. before rain interrupted the competition later in the evening, causing a two-hour rain delay.

In the end, Forrest performed very well in their class and received 1st place in their Class and a fourth ranking overall.

Congratulations Rocket Band of Blue for a great start to the 2011-2012 season.
